Ultramat is a free trash-style script font with the restless look of hurried marker lettering. Its strokes swing from hairline scratches to dense ink smears, and the loose letters rise and dip at unpredictable angles and uneven spacing. Oversized loops make the writing especially unruly.
An underground music poster is its clearest setting, where the rough marks can echo photocopied artwork, torn paper textures, and improvised graphics. The same abrasive handwriting can suit album packaging, skate merchandise, and experimental magazine covers, but posters make the fullest use of its sprawling forms.
